The Bear Head LNG site is located in Richmond County, Nova Scotia, near the town of Port Hawkesbury at the southwest corner of Cape Breton Island. It is part of the Point Tupper/Bearhead Industrial Park which includes several large industrial employers. The surrounding area has a strong history of supporting heavy industrial activities.
Bear Head LNG understands the need to create solid relationships in support of project development. As a result, our team maintains regular contact with Provincial Government officials, political leaders and industry partners in the capital of Halifax, and with community, political and business leaders in the Strait of Canso area.As a result of this effort, the Provincial Government and the Municipal Government in Richmond County have publicly supported the project.
Bear Head LNG has carefully followed the First Nations consultation process. As a result, a memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi'kmaq Chiefs and Bear Head LNG. The MOU commits the parties to work together to ensure meaningful Mi'kmaq participation in development of the LNG project and continued negotiations in relation to a benefits agreement.
Members of the Bear Head LNG management team are proud of the close working relationships they have with many community stakeholders and are committed to maintaining productive partnerships with the community as the project moves forward.
