The Bear Head LNG site is located in Richmond County, Nova Scotia, near the town of Port Hawkesbury at the southwest corner of Cape Breton Island. It is part of the Point Tupper/Bearhead Industrial Park which includes several large industrial employers. The surrounding area has a strong history of supporting heavy industrial activities.
Bear Head LNG understands the need to create solid relationships in support of project development. Our team maintains regular contact with Provincial Government officials, political leaders and industry partners in the capital of Halifax, and with community, political and business leaders in the Strait of Canso area. As a result of this effort, the Provincial Government and the Municipal Government in Richmond County have publicly supported the project.
Bear Head LNG is fully committed to the First Nations consultation process, culminating in the signing of a Mutual Benefits Agreement with the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi'kmaq Chiefs in February 2019. This agreement commits both parties to develop the Bear Head LNG project in an environmentally sustainable manner for the benefit of the regional community and the project.
Bear Head LNG also signed an agreement with the Nova Scotia Construction Labour Relations Association Limited and Cape Breton Unions in February 2019.
Members of the Bear Head LNG management team are proud of the close working relationships they have with many community stakeholders and are committed to maintaining productive partnerships with the community as the project moves forward into construction and long-term operations.
